Summer Term

Ship Ahoy!

We have a very exciting summer term planned for you as we begin our new topic….’Ship Ahoy!’ In the first half term we will be learning about all things associated with ships, treasure, islands and getting crazy about PIRATES!! The children will be reading about some cheeky pirates in our book ‘The Pirate Cruncher’ by Jonny Duddle. We will be learning about some famous pirates from long ago, creating treasure maps so that we know the continents and oceans of the world and making some of our own pirate music.

In the second half of the term we will move our focus from pirates and start looking at the seaside and the beach. We will begin by learning all  about the seaside and ocean habitats. We will then base lots of our work on ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ by Ronda and David Armitage. We will be thinking about what the seaside is like today and then comparing it with the seaside in the past, including the Victorian era. We will also think about sea creatures and rock pools and hopefully create our own exciting poems about them.

Please note that children's photographs will only be added to the website with prior permission from parents. If you notice that your child's photo is never on here and you would like it to be then please contact Mrs Ferguson or the office to ensure that we have the most up to date information. smiley
