Suggested work for this week

*** Thank you Year 4, parents and carers! ***

Firstly, I'd like to thank you for all your very generous gifts and cards - they were greatly appreciated.

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching you all and, despite not being able to complete this year in full, it was so enjoyable and rewarding seeing those of you who were able to return to school after half term.

I'd also like to say just how much I appreciate all the support provided at home during these difficult and challenging times.

I hope you all have a fantastic, relaxing summer holiday, and I look forward to seeing you back at school in September. Enjoy your break!

Mr Hart

Here, you'll be able to find some suggested activities for each day. Activities will be available throughout the week but will be cleared at the weekend ready for the new week. If you didn't get to finish an activity, that's fine, you can always carry it on later in the week!

Keep in touch daily on the blog. Post your work, ask questions if you're stuck, comment on others' work or just post your thoughts. I check the blog several times a day so it won't be long till I get back to you. smiley
Why don't you try one of these 30 short clips from Discovery Education Espresso's Video Zone with assigned challenging questions? You've been provided with the login details already. There's also lots to explore on this page - try starting with our new topic - the Romans!

You'll be able to use your Spelling Shed login details to log into these Rising Stars Cracking Comprehension activities.

You've been assigned a MISSION every week but feel free to use them at any time.

Have a look at this half term's spellings and remember to learn them using the strategies we have used in school. Remember that all spellings are on Spelling Shed so practise them daily from there. Click on the picture or this link to find this week's spellings.

Parish Projects can be accessed in the Y4 Homework (link) area of under the "Homework and supporting your child" section. Why don't you try and complete as many Parish Projects as you can? You could take photos of your work and upload them to the blogging site!

Exciting Reading News!

You'll be able to use your Spelling Shed login details to log onto these Rising Stars Reading Books.

When you log in, you'll notice you've been assigned three books to read - a mix of fiction and non-fiction.

As you read your books, you'll notice this symbol pop up every few pages at the bottom. It's a little quiz, testing your understanding on the way!

Your task for this week: Read at least one of these Rising Stars Books and complete the questions. I'll be able to see exactly what you've read and how you've got on so there's no need for you to tell me you've read them!

Other

This week, we are asking you to have some fun for the 'Other' tasks. As you have missed the summer term's traditional activities at school, we thought you could try to recreate some of them at home.

Sports Day!

In your garden or a cleared space in your house, plan your own family sports day. You could have races- running, skipping, hopping, obstacle, or you could set challenges - how many kick ups, how long can you balance on one leg or how many times can you throw a ball on a target? You could involve your whole family or set yourself personal challenges, good luck! smiley

Leavers' Service!

Usually during the last week of the year, we travel to

Malvern Priory to join in with the Year 6 Leavers' Service.

Why not write your own prayer, poem or memorable moment from your school journey that could have been read at the leavers' service? Write it, then perform it to an audience (your family at home or via a Zoom call).

You could even use the ‘Out of the Ark’ website to find a song to sing at your service.

 Year 4 Word Collage

For your last task in Year 4 I would like you to create a word collage filled with words that come to mind when you think about Year 4.

Here are some of the words I have thought of;

Smiles, happy, excited, proud, enthusiastic, lockdown, uncertain, homeschool, website, blog, creative, Zoom, hope, thankful and friendships. There are many more!

Once you have a list of words create a collage with them, either by hand or on the computer. You could use Wordle. Have fun! smiley

Here are some ideas!
