Science - sails experiment

Mr Jones came to help us with our science work today. He brought along an amazing piece of equipment called an air track which minimises friction using a very shallow cushion of air. We watched as a vehicle kept on and on moving along the air track as friction was reduced and then we designed sails to go on top of the vehicle to see who could make the vehicle travel fastest. We had a first go and tested our prototypes. We then looked more closely at the designs and made alterations before testing and timing our experiments. It was great fun all round and we learned lots more about forces! Thanks Mr Jones!
