At the end of key stage 1 all children are required to be tested in different areas of Maths and English. These tests will inform a final teacher assessment of your child.
The tests are due to be carried out at some point during May in the Year 2 classroom. The children are unaware that these tests are any different to the usual assessments we do at school and we do not want them to feel stressed about them in any way.
Continue to support your child with their reading at home and make sure that you ask lots of questions about the text so that the children can practise their comprehension skills. There are some example questions on the reading page in the Year 2 section of the website. The children can also continue to practise their number bonds and times tables to support their maths.
Nearer the time, I will send home some example papers for you to have a look at at home and practise with your child if you want to. Please do not have a go at any of the government past papers or sample papers as we use these regularly at school to assess the children throughout the year.
