Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

Malvern Parish C.E Primary School - SEND Local Offer 'Ordinarily Available'

Malvern Parish CofE Primary School is committed to providing an appropriate and high-quality education to all the children living in our local area.  We believe that all children, including those identified as having special educational needs, have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum which is accessible to them, and to be fully included in all aspects of school life. It is our vision that all children and adults flourish as individuals in order to achieve and build firm foundations for the future.

Furthermore, we are a Trauma Informed and a Thrive school and proud that we have an individual approach to creating an inclusive school. We would love to share this with you,  please get in touch to arrange a visit.

Levels of Intervention

For pupils at Malvern Parish C.E Primary School, their needs are met using three levels of intervention, described as ‘waves of support’ which support access to the new National Curriculum.

Wave 1 is the provision of quality inclusive teaching which takes into account the learning needs of all the pupils in the classroom. It includes differentiated work, flexible groups and creating an inclusive learning environment.

Wave 2 is the provision of specific, additional time limited interventions provided for some pupils who need help to accelerate their progress or enable them to work at or above their age-related expectations. They are often targeted at a group of pupils with similar needs.

Wave 3 is the targeted provision for a minority of pupils where it is necessary to provide highly tailored intervention to accelerate progress or enable children to achieve their potential.
