Term 3 Summer Term 2025
Summer 2
English
In English we will be focusing on the book The Girl Who Talked To Trees by Natasha Farrant. We will be writing setting descriptions, creating non-chronological reports about plants and writing recounts of our upcoming trip to Lower Smite Farm.
Maths
In maths we will start our half term exploring shape including identifying turns and angles, recognising and describing 2D and 3D shapes and drawing polygons.
We will move on to learn about statistics including drawing and interpreting pictograms and bar charts and collecting and representing data.
RE
Our key question this half term is:
How and why do people try to make the world a better place?
We will be identifying some beliefs about why the world is not always a good place, making simple links between teachings about how to live and ways in which people try to make the world a better place and describing some examples of how people try to live and put their beliefs into action.
Science
We will begin the half term by finishing off our Plant Reproduction topic from last half term. We will be learning about seed dispersal and collecting data about seeds to help us to draw conclusions. We will also be revisiting our learning on plants during our upcoming trip to Lower Smite Farm.
Our new science unit this half term is: Making Connections. The children will be revisiting the working scientifically skills covered during year 3, including:
Posing questions. Planning. Predicting. Observing. Measuring. Recording. Graphing. Analysing and drawing conclusions. Evaluating.
Geography
Our unit this half term is: Why do people live near volcanoes? We will name and describe the layers of the Earth, explain why volcanoes happen and when they occur and recognise the negative and positive effects of living near a volcano.
