DT - pneumatic toys
As part of our design and technology unit on pneumatic toys this half term, the children are going to be designing and making their own pneumatic toys. They have been asked to bring in recycled materials in order to make their toys with on Friday the 28th of March, 2025. They will need a cardboard box with a hinged lid such as a tea box, egg box, Easter egg box, burger box etc. Here are some examples:
Each child will only require one box but if you do have a spare then it is always handy to have extras in case there are children without. Thank you very much for your help and cooperation.
Mathletes
Most children are now working on their own times table target and will have the corresponding mathlete sheet weekly. Each child's target will be stapled into the back of their reading record book shortly. It is important that the children work on this target at home and practise their times table in order to try and improve their score each week and therefore feel secure in their knowledge of that multiplication table. There is some information on how the children can practise this in the maths section of our class page under "maths homework grid y3 y4". There is also more information on how mathletes works in year 3.
French
The children have been given new usernames and password to log in to 'Language Angels', which have been stapled into the back of their reading record books. They can either go to the Language Angels website by following the link below or they can download the app. By logging in, the children will be able to take part in games and karaoke songs that will practise and consolidate their learning from our French lessons in the classroom.

Important things to note
Our PE days are on a Monday and Wednesday. Your child will need to wear their PE kit to school on these days. As the weather continues to be cold, please ensure that your child is wearing a long sleeve top/jumper/hoodie and long trousers instead of shorts.
PE on a Wednesday will now be our swimming lesson. The children will need to bring a swimming costume and towel and have the option of bringing goggles if they want to. Girls will also need to bring a swim cap.
It may also be a good idea to bring a spare fruit/vegetable snack to enjoy after swimming.
What are we learning in year 3?
If you would like to find out more about what the children are learning about in year 3 then please do have a look at the many tabs on our class page. Throughout each half term we update the termly tabs showing you what we are learning about in each of our subjects and including photographs of what the children have been doing.
