In school we encourage the children to use cursive handwriting. In year 2 we concentrate on forming our letters correctly, making sure our letters are the right size compared to one another and ensuring that they sit in the right place on the line. Your child has been given a handwriting sheet to keep at home to show you how each letter is formed. If you need another one then just let us know. When the children are ready we will start to think about joining our letters.

If you want to practise writing at home with your child you could practise writing these letters on ordinary lined paper or a note pad. You could even practice writing the letters as part of words or sentences.  It is a good idea to practice the children's spellings using correctly formed letters too.

Below is an example sheet showing how we form our letters at school.
