We led a thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking assembly about The Great War, our new topic. We explained the reasons behind the war and performed a light-hearted play to explain the trigger for the outbreak of WWI. We then sung (with great enthusiasm!) two WWI songs, Pack Up Your Troubles and It's a Long Way to Tipperary. After that, we read a couple of extracts of our diary entries we'd written as if we were soldiers from the trenches during the war. We performed the famous WWI poem In Flanders Fields and said a prayer of remembrance. To finish, our parents joined in with our final performance of Pack Up Your Troubles! It was a memorable performance and we all feel really proud of our efforts and hard work.
