Peacemakers: Everyone Is Welcome
We began by thinking about what peace might mean to us and then we learnt about the differences between immigrants, refugees and internally displaced people. We really felt empathy for people experiencing difficulties in their lives and we played a game where we were under time pressure. It was fun but if we were under pressure to collect our belongings or to leave our homes, we know it would be very different. Finally, we played another game which helped us to understand more about fairness - we went from thinking that being treated fairly means everyone being treated the same to realising that being treated fairly means everyone getting what they need. Year 6 were thoughtful and respectful and really showed empathy - a great first session with the Peacemakers.
