1950s decade

We learned that life continued to be difficult in Britain straight after the end of WW2. We tried to do a weekly shop using just our ration books! We couldn't believe that one Mars Bar used to cost as much as a sack of potatoes and carrots! Some of us were still tempted to buy one though!

But...we also learned that technology was beginning to make a difference to ordinary people. In ICT we began researching how telephones, TV or computers have changed over the years. We were shocked to learn that maybe only one house on our street might have had a TV and that we might only watch TV for one hour a week - very different to what we do!

In science we investigated what makes the best string telephone. We had a busy afternoon experimenting with different cups, different string and all sorts trying to find the answer.
